Baltimore has a fast-growing reputation for sea angling. Fishing is possible from the shore but for the best sport
you need to go afloat. The harbour opens directly into deep
water and there is good fishing within a few minutes of passing
the Beacon at the harbour's mouth.
There are several well-equipped boats operating from the pier at Baltimore.
Catches on the offshore reefs and wrecks range from the familiar
to the exotic and include sharks, huge skate, cod and conger
eels.
Some of the angling boats operate charters for whale-watching
- you'll sometimes see dolphins and diving gannets at no extra
cost! Contact individual operators.
The annual Baltimore
Angling Festival takes place the last week in August.
