Deep Sea Angling Festival

When: Thu, 22 Aug 2024 - Sun, 25 Aug 2024
Where: Baltimore

Southwest Ireland's oldest sea angling competition, famous for exciting fishing and great company. Baltimore has played host to this annual event for 50 years. The four day competition has an international flavour and usually attracts around 70 anglers from around Ireland and abroad. It is open to all and you can enter as an individual or part of a three-person team. The boats are licensed and fully equipped charter boats with qualified and experienced skippers.

The first day is a separate one day tag-and-release shark fishing contest. That is followed by the main event — a three day deep sea competition for fish like conger, ling, pollack, cod and common skate. You can enter for just one or two days if you wish and compete for the cups and daily cash prizes presented after fishing each day.

As well as the tagging of sharks and skate, the emphasis throughout the festival is on conservation. Results are determined on a points basis so fish not wanted for the table can be returned safely to the sea. Silverware and other valuable prizes are presented at a prizegiving dinner on the last night.
