Baltimore, West Cork

Baltimore in West Cork is an excellent base to explore the beautiful southwest corner of Ireland, by land or sea. There are regular ferries from Baltimore to the islands of Cape Clear, Sherkin and Heir, enchanted outposts where one can recapture a lost sense of harmony with one’s surroundings – or alternatively just drop in for a drink and a bite to eat! You can also book a boat trip around some more of Carbery's Hundred Isles or out to the famous Fastnet Rock. On the mainland there are magnificent gardens, great houses, ruined castles, coastal walks and, at every turn, stunning views of coast and countryside. The magical sea lake Lough Hyne is just up the road, while westward lies Mizen Head, the 'land's end' of Ireland.
